  • Offers you cash access around the world - Your Visa Check Card offers you a quick, easy way to get cash from your checking account at more than 2.2 million Visa/Plus network ATMs in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Apple Pay & Samsung Pay

Apple Pay and Samsung Pay give you the ability to add your debit card to a compatible Smartphone so you can pay without taking your card from your wallet.

A separate device number is created on your phone, so your actual debit card number is not shared with merchants or transmitted during the transaction.  Each payment is verified using your phone’s fingerprint or PIN security.

For more information on how these features work or compatible phone and merchants, visit apple.com/apple-pay or samsung.com/pay.

VISA Purchase Alerts

Now you can keep tabs on your account anytime, anywhere. Near real-time Purchase Alerts powered by Visa help you reduce fraud and monitor your spending. And the service is available free for Beaver Valley FCU Visa® debit cardholders. To sign up, go to Visa.com/purchasealerts.

Receive transaction updates quickly.
With Purchase Alerts, you can receive an email shortly after your Visa card has been used on the Visa network. So if there is fraudulent activity, you'll be notified and can act quickly to stop the situation. It's a unique benefit that most alert services don't offer.  Transactions routed through non-Visa ATM or debit networks may not generate an alert.

Customize transaction alerts to fit your needs when your Visa card is used:

  • For purchases over a specified dollar amount
  • For purchases online, over the phone or through the mail

Making Purchases with your VISA Check Card

You have the option of how your purchase will be processed when using your BVFCU Visa Check Card at merchants’ “Point of Sale” (POS) terminals. All transactions, whether you select DEBIT or CREDIT, will be deducted from your checking account. If you choose “CREDIT”, purchases are processed by Visa. Generally, you are required to sign a receipt or electronic pad, except for purchases at gas pumps. You should use CREDIT for most transactions since it is more widely accepted by merchants, and the purchases may be protected by Visa rules and regulations in cases of charge disputes. Transactions processed as “DEBIT” are processed by Interlink or NYCE (nationwide Debit-POS networks). You will be required to enter your PIN. You should choose DEBIT if you are receiving “Cash Back” from the merchant, or if the merchant does not accept Credit transactions. Either option, DEBIT or CREDIT, is available to meet your transaction needs.

Check Card Fraud Monitoring System

BVFCU has implemented a fraud monitoring system to screen card activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Frequently Asked Questions about Fraud Monitoring:

How will this affect my existing card?
There will be no change to your current service unless you experience fraudulent or suspicious activity with your card(s).

What happens when suspicious or unusual activity occurs?
The Card Service Center will place a temporary block on your card and attempt to contact you directly at the phone number we have on file for you to verify the transaction(s) in question. Your card may be permanently blocked if we cannot establish contact with you after a reasonable amount of time has elapsed.

What happens if the charge is legitimate but the Card Service Center is unable to get in touch with me?
BVFCU reserves the right to unblock your card if you are able to contact us, or if based on prior activity or knowledge, we know the charge to be legitimate. If the service cannot reach you by phone, a temporary block will be placed until the transaction can be validated or confirmed as fraud.

What happens if I travel somewhere new or need to make a large purchase that does not fit within the pattern of my normal activity?
Your card may become blocked; however, BVFCU may unblock your card if we are aware of the circumstances. It is recommended that you contact BVFCU ahead of time to inform us of your plans. We also suggest you write down the phone numbers below and take them with you in the event that your card is blocked and you need to reach the Card Service Center immediately.

What will the Card Service Center ask if they contact me?
You should expect a Fraud Analyst to ask you to validate if a specific transaction(s) is valid or not. They may ask you to verify the last 4 digits of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) to ensure they are speaking with the true cardholder. They will not ask for your card number, password, or other personal identification information. In some cases, you may receive an automated phone call and will be asked to verify your transactions using your telephone keypad to respond. If you are unavailable to take the initial call, a message will be left on your voicemail.

How do I contact the Card Service Center to remove a block on a legitimate transaction?
A Fraud Analyst may be reached at 1-800-369-4887 (within the United States), or 1-727-227-2447 (if you are calling from outside the United States). Please note, they will be unable to provide any other BVFCU services to you.
