NATIONAL CREDIT UNION YOUTH WEEK

Get in the Savings Game at your credit union" was the theme for this year's National Credit Union Youth Week, April 18-24, 2010.

Again this year, Beaver Valley FCU invited parents and children, through age 18, to stop by either credit union office to participate in the Savings Challenge. By making a deposit to a child's account (or open a new one) during the month of April, they were entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $100 US Savings bond - four lucky winners were drawn!!  Cameron – age 6; Nathan – age 12, Madison – age 15 and Clifford age 17.

Refreshments and give-aways were distributed on Friday, April 23.  A hoops game and golfing area were set up for the young members.

Nationally, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) reported that the Savings Challenge resulted in 168,400 young member visits with deposits totaling $25 million at the 350 participating credit unions. They also reported that more than 10,300 new youth accounts were opened!

It is the goal of this program to help credit unions build strong relationships with their youth and their families. The Board of Directors and employees of BVFCU are looking forward to having a role in next year's event.

INTERNATIONAL CREDIT UNION DAY

For over 50 years, credit unions have set aside the third Thursday in October to celebrate International Credit Union Day. Each year, it gives us an opportunity to remember our proud history as we promote understanding and support for the credit union difference.

“Your Money, Your Choice, Your Credit Union” was the theme for this year's International Credit Union Day on Thursday, October 15, 2009.

Members of Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union demonstrate the true cooperative spirit of the credit union movement. To celebrate our accomplished history, our shared values, and our bright future, both offices had refreshments and a drawing for a cash deposit.
