YOUR CHOICE OF TWO CHECKING OPTIONS
Switching from a checking account you already have with another financial institution to a BVFCU Checking Account is easier with our "1, 2, 3 Switch Forms". These forms help you simplify transferring automatic payments and direct deposits to your new credit union account. Both checking accounts still offer these great features:
VISA CHECK CARD Your BVFCU Visa Check Card transactions will be processed in real-time. This means that every time you use your card at an ATM or to make a purchase, the transaction will be authorized based on the available balance in your account, at that moment. Also, most transactions will be reflected in your checking account immediately.
You now have the option of how your purchase will be processed when using your BVFCU Visa Check Card at merchants’ “Point of Sale” (POS) terminals. All transactions, whether you select DEBIT or CREDIT, will be deducted from your checking account. If you choose “CREDIT”, purchases are processed by Visa. Generally, you are required to sign a receipt or electronic pad, except for purchases at gas pumps. You should use CREDIT for most transactions since it is more widely accepted by merchants, and the purchases may be protected by Visa rules and regulations in cases of charge disputes.Transactions processed as “DEBIT” are processed by Interlink (a nationwide Debit-POS network). You will be required to enter your PIN. You should choose DEBIT if you are receiving “Cash Back” from the merchant, or if the merchant does not accept Credit transactions.Either option, DEBIT or CREDIT, is available to meet your transaction needs. ------------------------------------------------------------------ You can access your checking account without writing checks because the BVFCU Visa Check Card offers a whole world of convenience.
BVFCU has implemented the Falcon fraud monitoring system to screen card activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Frequently Asked Questions about Falcon Fraud Monitoring:
How will this affect my existing card?
There will be no change to your current service unless you experience fraudulent or suspicious activity with your card(s). What happens when suspicious or unusual activity occurs?
Falcon will place a temporary block on your card and attempt to contact you directly at the phone number we have on file for you to verify the transaction(s) in question. Your card may be permanently blocked if we cannot establish contact with you after a reasonable amount of time has elapsed. What happens if the charge is legitimate but Falcon is unable to get in touch with me?
BVFCU reserves the right to unblock your card if you are able to contact us, or if based on prior activity or knowledge, we know the charge to be legitimate. If Falcon cannot reach you by phone, a temporary block will be placed until the transaction can be validated or confirmed as fraud. What happens if I travel somewhere new or need to make a large purchase that does not fit within the pattern of my normal activity?
Your card may be blocked; however, BVFCU may choose to unblock your card at anytime. It is recommended that you contact BVFCU ahead of time to inform us of your plans. We also suggest you write down the phone numbers below and take them with you in the event that your card is blocked and you need to reach Falcon immediately. What will Falcon ask if they contact me?
You should expect a Falcon Fraud Analyst to ask you to validate if a specific transaction(s) is valid or not. They may ask you to verify the last 4 digits of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) to ensure they are speaking with the true cardholder. They will not ask for your card number, password, or other personal identification information. In some cases, you may receive an automated phone call and will be asked to verify your transactions using your telephone keypad to respond. If you are unavailable to take the initial call, a message will be left on your voicemail. How do I contact Falcon to remove a block on a legitimate transaction?
A Falcon Fraud Analyst may be reached at 1-877-505-8474 (within the United States), or 727-227-7004 (if you are calling from outside the United States. Please note, they will be unable to provide any other BVFCU services to you.
