  • Lets you use money from your checking account without writing a check - Use it wherever you see the Visa symbol - at stores, restaurants, and other locations around the world.

Apple Pay & Samsung Pay

Apple Pay and Samsung Pay give you the ability to add your debit card to a compatible Smartphone so you can pay without taking your card from your wallet.

A separate device number is created on your phone, so your actual debit card number is not shared with merchants or transmitted during the transaction.  Each payment is verified using your phone’s fingerprint or PIN security.

For more information on how these features work or compatible phone and merchants, visit apple.com/apple-pay or samsung.com/us/samsung-pay.

VISA Purchase Alerts

Now you can keep tabs on your account anytime, anywhere. Near real-time Purchase Alerts powered by Visa help you reduce fraud and monitor your spending. This service is available free for Beaver Valley FCU Visa® debit cardholders. To sign up, go to Visa.com/purchasealerts.

Receive transaction updates quickly.

With Purchase Alerts, you can receive an email shortly after your Visa card has been used on the Visa network. So if there is fraudulent activity, you'll be notified and can act quickly to stop the situation. It's a unique benefit that most alert services don't offer.  Transactions routed through non-Visa ATM or debit networks may not generate an alert.

Near real-time alerts

Customize transaction alerts to fit your needs when your Visa card is used:

  • For purchases over a specified dollar amount
  • For purchases online, over the phone or through the mail
  • Outside the United States

More information

Receive transaction specifics within each alert, including:

  • Purchase amount
  • Merchant name and location (if available)
  • The last four digits of the Visa card used

More peace of mind

Gain confidence as you keep tabs on your account with transaction alerts delivered via email on your computer or mobile phone. To sign up, go to Visa.com/purchasealerts, and start enjoying more protection and peace of mind with Purchase Alerts.  The enrollment process will require you to create a login and provide your debit card information. Similar alerts can be setup for the Beaver Valley FCU credit card by logging into the credit card online account access.

Making Purchases with your VISA Debit Card

You have the option of how your purchase will be processed when using your BVFCU Visa Debit Card at merchants’ “Point of Sale” (POS) terminals. All transactions, whether you select DEBIT or CREDIT, will be deducted from your checking account. If you choose “CREDIT”, purchases are processed by Visa. Generally, you are required to sign a receipt or electronic pad, except for purchases at gas pumps. You should use CREDIT for most transactions since it is more widely accepted by merchants, and the purchases may be protected by Visa rules and regulations in cases of charge disputes. Transactions processed as “DEBIT” are processed by Interlink or Accel (nationwide Debit-POS networks). You will be required to enter your PIN. You should choose DEBIT if you are receiving “Cash Back” from the merchant, or if the merchant does not accept Credit transactions. Either option, DEBIT or CREDIT, is available to meet your transaction needs.

Overdraft Protection & Courtesy Pay

Overdraft Protection

Your check writing ability is not limited to the amount you have on deposit in your checking account. If you overdraft your checking account balance, funds can be transferred from your regular savings account as long as the funds are available. There is a charge of $4.00 per daily occurrence for this service.

Courtesy Pay (A Discretionary Overdraft Service)

Have You Ever...

  • Made an honest mistake in your checkbook? Found yourself "a little short"?
  • Had unusual or unforeseen expenses at just the wrong time?

Courtesy Pay can mean...

  • You can avoid high charges from merchants for returned checks
  • You have new convenience and flexibility in managing your funds

Eligible account holders will receive an 'Announcement Letter' and complete 'Courtesy Pay Policy' as this service is applied to their accounts.

We will charge our normal non-sufficient funds (NSF) charges, as set forth in our fee schedule, for each item that would create an overdraft on your account.  However, the check will be honored and not returned as NSF.

There will be no change to your current service unless you experience fraudulent or suspicious activity with your card(s).

The Card Service Center will place a temporary block on your card and attempt to contact you directly by text or at the phone number we have on file for you to verify the transaction(s) in question. Your card may be permanently blocked if we cannot establish contact with you after a reasonable amount of time has elapsed.

BVFCU reserves the right to unblock your card if you are able to contact us, or if based on prior activity or knowledge, we know the charge to be legitimate. If the service cannot reach you by phone, a temporary block will be placed until the transaction can be validated or confirmed as fraud.

Your card may become blocked; however, BVFCU may unblock your card if we are aware of the circumstances. It is recommended that you contact BVFCU ahead of time to inform us of your plans. We also suggest you write down the phone numbers below and take them with you in the event that your card is blocked and you need to reach the Card Service Center immediately.

You should expect a Fraud Analyst to ask you to validate if a specific transaction(s) is valid or not. They may ask you to verify the last 4 digits of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) to ensure they are speaking with the true cardholder. They will not ask for your card number, password, or other personal identification information.

A Fraud Analyst may be reached at 1-833-735-1894.
